Wood Carving
Wall Lamp "The Flower"
The lamp is made with inspiration from the sunflower's symmetrical form and is constructed in three separate layers. Between each layer there is a small gap that allows the light to come through in a soft and diffused way.
When the lamp is lit, shadows form between the cutouts, accentuating the shape and giving greater depth to the construction. Each layer is sawn, carved and turned in two stages to create the illusion that the flower's petals are turning towards the viewer. At the centre of the flower sits a thin layer of willow that has been soaked in linseed oil, allowing the light to shine through the wood easily. The diameter is approximately 40 centimetres and the lamp uses a G9 socket.
